2020 marks the 30th year of our Lloyd F. Hutt Scholarship program. High school seniors are asked to write an essay that addresses a selected topic, and we award 15 winners $2,000 each in scholarship money. With our roots as the Grand Rapids Teachers Credit Union, and Lloyd’s love for teaching, Hutt is a program that’s near and dear to our hearts. Stay tuned for this year’s essay topic coming next month.
Every year, ArtPrize depends on the energy, drive and spirit of its volunteers. Starting this year, ArtPrize is shifting to a biennial competition to make way for Project 1 by ArtPrize. The two formats will alternate years, with the inaugural Project 1 taking place this fall. Five artists have been commissioned to create sculptures, installations, performances, urban interventions and community-oriented projects throughout the city of Grand Rapids, MI.
Here’s what hasn’t changed: LMCU will once again sponsor the volunteer program. LMCU encourages its staff and members to join us in support of Project 1 by ArtPrize. If you’d like to volunteer, visit project.artprize.org/volunteering. We hope to see you there, September 7 through October 27!
The streets of downtown Grand Rapids were filled with just over 2,700 runners, joggers, strollers, speed walkers, and regular walkers last month for the 2019 Lake Michigan Credit Union Bridge Run.
Thank you to the thousands of members, volunteers, and fans who joined us for this annual event.
