Warmest wishes to you and your loved ones this holiday season. The end of the year is always a special time for me…an opportunity to focus on family, reflect on where we have been, and cherish where we are now.
Here at Lake Michigan Credit Union, it always comes back to you, our members. While the past year has continued to introduce new challenges for everyone, all of us at LMCU are blessed to be able to continue to serve you and your families. You have invited us to work with you during some of the most significant moments of your life — like buying your first home, financing a vehicle, or creating a welcoming nursery for your first child. We appreciate the trust you put in us and take it to heart.
I’m happy to say that during this past year, we crossed the 500,000-member mark. This is quite the milestone, especially considering that is over twice as many members who made up the credit union just 10 years ago. I know our growth is a testament to our commitment to making a difference in our members’ lives and offering simply the best value, products, and warmest service possible.
It is members like yourself who give us purpose. On behalf of myself and everyone at LMCU, thank you for letting us be part of your lives, and for being part of ours. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Warm regards,
Sandy Jelinski
President/Chief Executive Officer

With the holiday season in full swing, there are many items on your to-do list and it may seem like the last thing you want to do is add another big-ticket item. But if you’re thinking you may want to make a move, now could be the perfect time to add finding your dream home to your list. Check out these four reasons why December may be a great time to purchase your next home.
Nobody wants to think about moving during the most wonderful (and the busiest) time of the year when there are pies to eat and stockings to stuff. Anyone who’s selling during the holiday season probably wants to do it fast, and their need for speed could work to your advantage when negotiating.
Due to the holiday season festivities and colder temperatures, many would-be sellers hold off putting their homes on the market. Even though there aren’t as many homes for sale this time of year, there are also historically fewer buyers according to Realtor.com research. With fewer buyers in the market as competition, this could provide more opportunities to close on your dream home.
With historic low rates and down payments as low as 3%,* you can find your dream home for less.
If you need a new couch, new area rug, or home décor, chances are there’s a holiday sale for that. However, bear in mind that new debt and lines of credit can affect the financing of your home. If you’re eyeing that couch and can’t pay out of pocket right now, maybe wait until after you close.
If you’re ready to make your winter move a reality, connect with one of our friendly, expert Loan Officers today at LMCU.org/Mortgage or call (844) 754-6280.
*For well-qualified borrowers.
We know our members are exceptional. Helping you achieve your goals is the best part of what we do, and we want to hear your side of the story.
Share a time when LMCU helped you achieve something great — that moment when you knew you’d be a member for life — and you may be invited to our Grand Rapids studio for a photo and video shoot. We’ll spotlight your story and share it with the LMCU community across social media, online video, and even on billboards and mailers.
Visit go.lmcu.org/memberstories to get started. Thank you for being an LMCU member and we can’t wait to hear the story you have to share!
Cheer on the Grand Rapids Griffins for a night of rousing hockey action on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Van Andel Arena. This annual event offers LMCU members discounted upper and lower bowl ticket pricing along with a free t-shirt to commemorate the occasion.
Please note, this year discounted tickets will only be available for purchase online. LMCU branches will not have any physical tickets for sale. Tickets went on sale beginning November 22 and can be purchased by visiting LMCU.org/Contests.
LMCU is growing! Our second Traverse City branch, located at 3650 N US 31 S, is opening on January 10. We will have multiple options for serving you, including contactless drive-thru banking. We can’t wait to see you!
As of December 1, Santa Squad is back to bring acts of kindness, goodwill, and holiday cheer to our Michigan and Florida communities. This year, there are more ways than ever for our members to get involved in the holiday fun!
Starting December 1, you can keep up with our Santa Squad festivities by visiting LMCU.org/SantaSquad or following our social media pages.
Join LMCU team members in giving back to those families in our communities who need it most this time of year. There are opportunities for both Michigan and Florida members.
Consider signing up for organ donation this holiday season. If you are already signed up as an organ donor, thank you for making the commitment to help others through transplantation, therapy, research, and education.
Our Southwest Florida branches will be hosting donation boxes throughout the entire month of December, collecting clothes to donate to Azul’s Attire. Do you have professional clothing in good condition that you no longer wear? Drop it off at your local branch and Azul’s Attire will get it in the hands of students to wear during their job search. Find our Florida branch locations at LMCU.org/Locations.
It is always good to be extra kind and generous this time of year. Keep paying it forward in your community and share how you’re spreading holiday cheer on social media with #LMCUSantaSquad.
Keep up with the Santa Squad elves by visiting LMCU.org/SantaSquad in early December, and by following LMCU on social media.
Throughout the month of September, teachers in Michigan and Florida were nominated for LMCU’s Roots in Education grant. Each year, the Roots in Education grant program awards $1,000 grants to 25 teachers who make a positive impact on their students and school community, and who embody a particular trait. This year, we’re celebrating teachers who embody innovation.
The 25 innovative teachers have been selected, and each will be receiving a $1,000 grant to use towards anything that benefits the educational process. Congratulations to all of these wonderful educators, and thank you for the work you do for your students every day.
