We hope you and your family experienced a joyful New Year’s. Few things can compare to the warmth of spending quality time with loved ones during this time of year.
2023 was an important year for LMCU as we celebrated our 90-year anniversary. This milestone is a testament to the strength and validity of our mission, which is to provide our members the best banking experience possible. It is also a celebration of you, our members. Without your support and the trust you put in us, Lake Michigan Credit Union would not be the exceptional financial institution it is today.
While many banks and other credit unions made the difficult decision to close branches last year, LMCU continued its growth and expansion. We held a grand reopening for our Alpine Avenue branch at its new, larger location in Comstock Park, MI. Additionally, we celebrated the opening of our first Sarasota, FL branch in the heart of downtown. We are humbled by the support of our members that has allowed us to grow our membership and the number of communities we are able to serve.
Giving back to our communities goes back to the foundation of our credit union. Every year I am humbled by the opportunities we have to serve our communities and partner with nonprofits and organizations to make a difference. You can be proud knowing that, with a credit union, your money stays local and is utilized in helping people and making your community an even better place to live, work, and worship
We also expanded our product offerings in 2023, introducing our new Max Money Market account and several CD specials. Helping you earn more when you save is our duty as your credit union, and I’m proud of how much we have been able to help the individuals, families, and businesses we serve grow their money.
As I look forward to 2024, I am excited about the opportunities before us and the legacy that follows us. I am extremely grateful for the privilege to work with so many exceptional people that play a part in our members’ successes. Your favorite teacher could win $1,000
Every year, LMCU’s Roots in Education program awards 25 teachers each a $1,000 grant for making a positive impact on their students and school community by embodying a particular trait.
Do you know a teacher who is optimistic and always able to find the good in situations? They could receive a grant that can be used to benefit any aspect of their teaching or their classroom.
The nomination window is February 1 through March 31, 2024. Nominations can be made by students, parents, peers, or community members. To nominate a teacher and view full details, visit LMCU.org/TeacherGrant.

Thank you to all the students who submitted an essay! After the January 5 entry deadline for the Lloyd F. Hutt Scholarship is past, a panel of independent judges will begin evaluating the many submissions to determine the 20 scholarship recipients.
Be sure to check LMCU’s social media channels and LMCU.org/Hutt in May to see the 20 high schoolers who won a $2,000 scholarship.
We cheered in the New Year with the Tampa Bay ReqliaQuest Bowl.
LMCU takes great pride in serving as the official credit union for the annual ReliaQuest Bowl. This year’s matchup took place on New Year’s Day, with the LSU Tigers facing the Wisconsin Badgers. Each year, the event brings in fans and visitors from across the country to the Tampa Bay area to watch a thrilling game of football. Thank you to all who kicked off 2024 at the ReliaQuest Bowl!
LMCU Impact Crew ended 2023 strong.
Through November and December, the LMCU Impact Crew amplified the community impact we make year-round. We organized additional volunteer efforts, raised funds for charities and nonprofits, and found ways to make someone’s day a little brighter. We were deeply inspired by all the members who joined the LMCU Impact Crew in giving back to their communities, too. We appreciate everyone who helped us end the year strong, and we look forward to the opportunities 2024 will bring!
